Types Of Contact Lenses

• STANDARD WEAR: These are an older style of contacts and are meant to be worn for a limited time period in a day, usually 8-10 hours. They come in various types of disposability such as daily, 2 week, 30 days and yearly.
• HIGH OXYGEN LENSES: A new generation of contacts designed for the individual who wears contacts full time. They are far more breathable than the standard contacts and therefore are less likely to cause eye complications from more aggressive wear. They are also more comfortable and moisturizing than your standard contacts. These are ideal for patients who wear contacts more than 10 hours a day, 4-5 days a week or more. They also come in various types of disposability, usually daily, two week and monthly.
• HARD CONTACTS OR GAS PERMEABLE LENSES: Are made of a rigid plastic and can correct most types of powers. They a custom made to the patients prescription and eye curvature and correct both simple and complex prescriptions. However, more time is usually required for patients to adapt to the comfort of these lenses and are usually replaced on a yearly basis.
• ASTIGMATISM OR TORIC LENSES: These types of prescriptions can be corrected in Standard, High Oxygen, and Hard contacts depending on the patients prescriptions and wear time requirements.
• MULTIFOCAL CONTACTS: These are designed to correct the patients near as well as distance corrections in one lens design. They are also available in the above mentioned types of contacts.
